The project was commissioned by Bath and Northeast Somerset Council (B&NES), and SWALLOW led the work. As Our Self Advocacy, we ran workshops and asked people about the support they need.
This gave people a chance to share their views and talk about what matters to them. Some people felt happy to speak and shared a lot. Others found it harder. This showed us that people have different communication needs, and not everyone finds it easy to speak up. It reminded us how important it is to have the right support so everyone can have their voice heard.
As a group, we felt proud of what we were doing, and it helped us grow in confidence. But we also felt unsure sometimes. Leading a project like this is a big responsibility, and it pushed us to learn new things.
We’re proud of what we achieved. We’ve learned a lot from this experience, and we’d love to do more projects like this in the future. We found the B&NES project important and interesting but also challenging at times.
