Project update- creative phase

Here at Openstorytellers, we have begun to introduce the themes that we have been discovering through our research. We will share more of this as the project continues, but just for now we wanted to show you Joe’s work on his set design.

Doors are featuring strongly in our research. It might be something many people take for granted, but when you stop and think about it – the entrance to a place means a lot.

At Mendip Hospital (Wells Asylum) the patients and most staff were not allowed through the front door. Only “the powers that be” were invited through there. What does that suggest?

Using money raised by National Lottery players, The National Lottery Heritage Fund supports projects that connect people and communities with the UK’s heritage. Through the Front Door is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to visit a series of heritage sites as we research the lives of people with learning disabilities over the past 150 years.
