Our self advocacy celebration blog

We’re proud to share some great news.

The Our Self Advocacy team has been named finalists in the Dimensions Leaders Awards 2026, in the Work and Education category. This is a national award, and being shortlisted means a lot to us.

Being part of Our Self Advocacy has helped us grow as a group. It has made us stronger and more confident, and it has encouraged us to lead ourselves forward and do even more self‑advocacy work for people with learning disabilities in the UK.

This recognition reflects the hard work and commitment of everyone involved, and the difference that self‑advocacy really makes.

We are especially proud of the work we have done, including the Festival of Voices in January, which was amazing. It was great to have people come along to chat, take part in workshops, and share their experiences. We are also proud to have led a workshop at the LDE conference in Birmingham.

If we go on to win, we will be invited to the awards ceremony in June 2026 in Bristol. Whatever happens, we are very proud of the team and everything we have achieved together.

Thank you to everyone who supports Our Self Advocacy, and a special thank you to our funder, Somerset Community Foundation, for your generous support.
